Marin Outdoor Adventures offers surf lessons, mindfulness in nature experiences, and Breath Awareness workshops.  We believe in the therapeutic benefits of adventure and connecting with Mother Nature. Our hope is to empower and awaken others to the healing quality of

adventures and nature!

Mission

We believe that connecting with nature brings joy and leads to a more fulfilling and healthy life for both individuals and the planet. We offer a variety of outdoor activities with the goal of promoting an appreciation for the great outdoors and encouraging people of all ages to experience the therapeutic and empowering benefits of being in nature. Whether it's hiking or surfing we aim to share the importance of cherishing and protecting the natural world through our activities. Our mission is to help people discover the joy and beauty of nature.

Vision

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are values that we hold in high regard. We welcome people of all ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities to join us for outdoor adventures. While we recognize that there is still work to be done in order to make our programming accessible to everyone, we are committed to making progress in this area and to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

DEI action steps

We are actively recruiting instructors and staff from diverse backgrounds to join our team.

Increasing representation and access for BIPOC and underserved communities in Marin County through engagement with local organizations.

Offering programs on a sliding scale in order to serve persons from Marin County regardless of income level and socioeconomic status.

Launching the Under the Sun Project to engage young women and girls in surfing, land stewardship, and art without the barrier of cost.

We are committed to providing high-quality outdoor experiences that are both educational and enjoyable. We work with a team of experts in various fields to ensure that every adventure is not only fun, but also educational. We believe in the importance of local knowledge and experience, so we collaborate with local outdoor enthusiasts to bring authentic, firsthand expertise to every adventure.

Owner 

Nicki Clark

Born and raised in Marin County, I have always loved outdoor activities like surfing, snowboarding, and mountain biking. I have a passion for connecting others with the therapeutic benefits of nature and adventure. I am a certified meditation in nature facilitator, an ISA level 1 surf coach, and certified in ocean rescue.

Thane Schultz

Thane hates bio's and thats why I, his daughter Sunny, am writing it for him.  If he was to write his own bio it might end up with 2 letters, Hi. He loves surfing and has been doing it for 36 years. I know from personal experience that he's stoked to teach other people how to surf! Book a lesson with my dad Thane now.

Cecilia Figueroa

I discovered my passion for the outdoors while living in Colorado and have been hooked on nature's beauty and magic ever since. I enjoy exploring the bays, estuaries, and lagoons in Marin County on kayak and SUP, and surfing the Pacific Ocean. Let the adventure continue!

Lead Surf Coach

Steve Ratcliff

Steve Ratcliffe caught his first wave in 1962 on a family vacation to Santa Barbara and has been surfing ever since.  He has lived in Bolinas since 1973, where he still surfs every day. He is a poet and Emeritus Professor at Mills College, where he taught creative writing and literature courses for 33 years.

Meg Campbell

Meg has over a decade of experience in the outdoor industry and believes in the healing powers of the wilderness. Meg started the Under the Sun Project to facilitate connection to the ocean for girls and young women local to Marin who may not have had access otherwise.

Katrina Paz

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and have always loved board sports and taking on physical challenges since my youth. Helping others find joy in physical activity brings me great happiness and I look forward to sharing the love of surfing with everyone!

Mindfulness Teacher & Nature Guide

Barbara Juniper

Barbara Juniper is a fourth generation California native, meditation teacher, and Community Dharma Leader in Marin County. She has a deep love and understanding of the natural world and is known for her sense of humor, warmth, and love of life. Oh, and she loves to sing, so you may hear her bust out a tune from time to time!

Surf Coach

Shannon Collier

Shannon Gray has been surfing for 15 years and loves sharing the sport with others. As a circus performer and dancer, she brings a unique style to her surfing and focuses on sensation, intuitive expression, and presence. Shannon loves helping people connect with their bodies and the sea through surfing.

Hiking Guide

Nick Nutu

Nick grew up in Massachusetts and has a background in wilderness education and natural remedies, with a focus on plants, animals, and fungi. He enjoys helping people connect with nature and live consciously.
