Through the activities we offer, our mission is to bring people joy through connectivity with nature. We believe that having appreciation for the outdoors yields a fruitful and healthy life not only for each person but also for the planet. Approaching natural spaces with awareness allows activities like hiking, surfing, and mountain biking to be therapeutic and empowering experiences. We hope to share with people of all generations how the natural world is something to be cherished and kept safe.
We are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. Everyone is welcome to adventure with us regardless of age, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and mental and physical abilities. We acknowledge being able to offer programming to all humans is still a work in progress for MOA.
Below are some steps we are taking to put DEI ideals into practice:
Recruiting instructors and staff from diverse backgrounds
Recognizing that the outdoor industry is underrepresented by BIPOC and engaging with local underserved communities and organizations to increase representation and access in Marin County
Offering programs on a sliding scale in order to serve persons from Marin County regardless of income level and socioeconomic status
Launching the Under the Sun Project to engage young women and girls in surfing, land stewardship, and art without the barrier of cost
We would like to acknowledge that we operate on the unceded territory and homelands of the Coast Miwok People. We honor the Coast Miwok People of the Bolinas Bay region as the ancestral stewards of this land. We hope to show the proper respect due to Indigenous inhabitants of this land and make headway in our overdue reparations.
